Making It Through the Holidays Unscathed

Author by Florence Schroeder Dec 12th, 2017

We are well into the holiday season, so let’s make sure you look gorgeous in that outfit you would like to wear for the remaining holiday celebrations. Here are a few simple tips to help you fit beautifully into your clothes, and make it through the holidays without regrets.

1. Don’t go hungry to a party

Having a healthy snack before going to a party can make the difference between feeling great about yourself, and feeling sorry for yourself. We tend to make poor food choices when we are hungry. A handful of almonds, a piece of fruit, or some vegetables with hummus can give you the strength not to fall for the sweet temptations in front of you.

2. Take it slow

At your party, remember to eat slowly, and never drink—alcohol—on an empty stomach. If you’re thirsty, start with water or club soda. And remember to drink one glass of water for each glass of alcohol you have.

3. Pass on the sweets

Sugar has an addictive effect, so it will be harder not to overeat if you hit the sweet treats. If you really have a sweet tooth, choose small bites, and focus on enjoying each and every one of them fully. It’s the holidays after all, and you’re supposed to feel good.

4. If needed, walk it off

If you’ve been indulging a little too much, you can always exercise a little more. If you can dance at your party, do it. Otherwise, go for a long walk or do your favorite exercise the next day.

5. Enjoy!

The holidays only happen once a year, and are meant to be enjoyed! So, take a deep breath and focus on feeling joy in your heart. It will be easier for you not to look for food to make you feel good.

Happy Holidays!
