El Stamatakos was born in a small city in the prairies of Canada to a traditional Greek family. From a young age he was interested in Eastern Philosophy and began reading classics such as Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching. Around the age of 15 he began learning traditional kung fu and studied diligently for 10 years. During his time of practice he earned two B.Sc degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and the other one in Applied Mathematics. In 1999 he moved to the US for work purposes. It was here that his true journey would begin and unfold. He met the headmaster of the Wu/Hao Style of Tai Chi, Master Liu Jishun. Master Liu taught him to go inside and look within, and so he learned the internal principles of tai chi. He then met and learned from BaGua Master Liang Qiang Ya and Hsing-I and Shaolin from Master Wong Jack Man, who was famous for fighting Bruce Lee. It wasn’t until July 4th, 2001 that through mysterious circumstances he met Master John Cheng as featured in the documentary Ring of Fire and the book, Magus of Java. This event was a major step in El’s search for the Dao or the way. El began to study under Master Cheng, a powerful healer, who gave him his foundational training. Most importantly, El felt Master Cheng’s power, received his story and the confirmation that the human potential is breathtaking. In 2007 El enrolled in an 18-month program to study Ayurveda (Life Science), the Ancient East Indian Healing system. He received a practitioner’s certificate from AIA  (Ayurveda Institute of America lead by Dr Jay Apte) now Kerala Ayurveda. In 2010 he met Master Lai, a direct disciple of the famous Master Wang Xiang Dang of Lao Shan (Mount Lao is one of the cradles of Taoism). Master Wang came to the US in 1991 and taught  thousands of people, and healed many of incurable diseases. He spread his word through books, demonstrations and talks at Harvard and MIT to name a few. El began practising his rare 8 sword finger exercises. In the past, the exercises could only be taught to disciples of the Tao and were otherwise reserved to royalty for their use in the preservation of their health. This system incorporates the five traditions of buddhism, taoism, yoga, the healing arts, and martial arts. In 2011, El completed a M.Sc in Applied Mathematics from Santa Clara University, again trying to balance science and spirituality in his life. After many years of practice El started to offer energy work to people dealing with back pain, neck pain, and other types of pain. His goal is to continue to learn and strive like his masters  before him, in order to help people around him.
